PeridexisErrant Lazy Newb Pack (windows)ģD Visualizers Stonesense.See the Lazy Newb Pack page for more information, or the forum thread for your platform. The launcher makes changing settings or graphics options much easier (press button, instead of editing files) and can even remember to launch selected utilities whenever you open a game of Dwarf Fortress. The newer packs also include many third-party fixes for common bugs, which work automatically, and a large number of significant user interface improvements. Allows to start playing DF really quickly on a new machine - no need to download and integrate tilesets and tools like Dwarf Therapist, SoundSense, etc. 5.1.1 Dwarf Therapist Addons RepositoryĪ commonly-used software bundle with a nice launcher. The Lazy Newb Pack is an effort to make Dwarf Fortress more accessible for new players by bundling and configuring utilities, graphics and tilesets, and extras such as reference material or more intuitive controls. To avoid namespace clutter websites are considered utilities and have been included.Ī subsection of the Bay12 forums is devoted to such third party programs, and contains development threads for most of them. Mods have also been listed under their own Modification namespace. Not included on this page: tileset repositories and graphics set repositories have been given their own, separate page. If you would like to add an article on a specific game utility to the wiki, please do so under the Utility namespace. This page lists utilities useful for modders and player alike. Dwarf Fortress is a difficult game to play, and any help that can be had in the task is welcome help. If you experience lag you may have to turn off multi-level view, or generate smaller worlds/embark on smaller areas with shorter histories in only the tens of years.Utilities are third party applications useful for Dwarf Fortress players and modders, and this page serves as a list of them. Possibly even limit population to 120 at the lowest if you want to experience all the fortress mode offers If you experience lag you may have to turn off multi-level view, or generate smaller worlds/embark on smaller areas with shorter histories in only the tens of years. It also includes DFhack which you can turn off, but it does add several bug fixes and tweaks as well as allow multi-level view(a fading view of lower levels below the one you're on) and other features The starter pack also has a bunch more tilesets, as well as many options for optimising the game and options you'd never see unless you dived into the games. Visit the dwarf fortress wiki page on tilesets for a (slightly outdated) comparison between some other graphic sets here: (DF2014 on the wiki means the most recent large(like, years in the making) version change of DF, it's still up to date) Like look at this Mayday vs Phoebus But I guess the closest to the cartoony/bright/super undwarfy clean look in the trailer(I'm totally not biased) has to be Spacefox But I'd recommend changing it to Mayday on the graphics tab, and then clicking install, as it's very clear (to me) and he also helped make the tileset in the trailer. For the easiest way to pick and choose them, download the Lazy Newb starter pack from the Dwarf Fortress forums: It is on Phoebus by default. Dwarf fortress has always had full graphics packs(and many mods on the forums) available.
